AuckLUG Installfest 2005

Pre-Registration is now open

Welcome to the official website of the Auckland Linux Users Groups Installfest for 2005.
This years Installfest will take place on Saturday 3rd December 9:30am to 5pm at the North Shore Events Centre, Glenfield. No new installs starting later than 4pm.

This Installfest has three purposes:

  1. Help install Linux on computers (bring your pc and we'll help you install linux on it)
  2. Find out what Linux is and see Linux in action.
  3. Talk to Linux experts and get help with any Linux related questions.

What is this Installfest thing? It's an event - run by the Auckland Linux User Group - where you can bring your computer and get the latest versions of linux installed for free. If you don't want to bring a computer, you can ask questions, get information, and take the disks away to install on your computer later. You learn about linux, and take away software, knowledge and information about products and services.

Linux? Probably the most powerful and stable operating system available. It has grown from a small project in the early 90's to a global phenomenon. Many big companies (IBM, Novell and Google, for example) have made massive investments in linux. Continually maintained and improved by hundreds of thousands of individuals and companies around the world, it is virus-free, crash-proof, highly secure and very stable. Tens of thousands of programs exist which run on linux. Email and web browsing, word processing and office applications, games, education, multimedia and graphics are just a few of the areas covered. And linux and its applications are free!
